Why diaper-free time is essential for babies?

In this modern and fast-paced world, we are all used to putting our babies in diapers 24x7 as it is less stressful and takes little time to change them. But while diapers may be quick, they come with their own set of issues. The biggest of which is the frequent occurrence of rashes on a ‘s sensitive skin if it has been in contact with it for a long period of time as most diapers are not very breathable. In the case of disposable diapers, an additional factor of the rashes is the harsh chemicals and plastic from which the disposables are made. Therefore, with time, more and more parents have realized the importance of diaper-free time for their babies. Diaper-free time is encouraged for two major reasons. As stated earlier, one of the main reasons is to prevent diaper rashes. While others adopt the gentle approach called Elimination Communication (EC), wherein babies are left diaper-free, and parents respond to their baby’s elimination cues by taking them to the potty. Here are s...

Why you should take up reading with your kids?

If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales - Albert Einstein   The importance of reading or being read to from an early childhood is undeniable. It develops imagination and provides great understanding at an early age. Reading out loud to young children is hugely beneficial. It is said that children learn best with warm engaging interactions with those closest to them. And as far as long term effects are concerned, it certainly follows them to school leading to readiness, language development, problem-solving, thinking skills, and vocabulary among other things. Reading is also set to help the child develop empathy because they are putting themselves into the characters they are reading about, decrease disruptive behavior in school and increase attention span. Even at home, reading helps bring families together as it is a time to bond and connect. There is no time too soon to start read...

The Working Mom- An age old balancing act

If you think being a mom is a full-time job, try being a working mother. It's literally a roller coaster ride, as you are constantly juggling between work, kids and household, and are expected to be efficient with all the tasks at hand. As rightly said by Annabel Crabb, a journalist, TV presenter and mother of three “The obligation of working mothers is a very precise one: the feeling that one ought to work as if they do not have children, while raising one's children as if they do not have a job”. Only women, especially mothers have the superpower to execute this supernatural phenomenon. Jobs are demanding and so are the kids. In this constant struggle to make ends meet, women find themselves constantly guilty for not giving enough time to their kids. Are you too an overwhelmed mother struggling to create that balance? Relax, the good news is, you can be both a good mom and working mom. Here are a few golden tips that can help you manage your kids alongside of a full-time jo...

My Pregnancy Journey

“Pregnancy is nine months of preparing to fall in love for a lifetime” – Anonymous. I think I was always ready to fall in love this way.  Here through this blog I would love to share my pregnancy journey. I always loved the idea of being able to give birth and having my own child. However, as a modern couple, my husband and I really wanted our time together, before having our first child. So we waited for a good three years before taking the leap. And when we felt that we were mentally, physically, and financially ready, we finally consulted our doctor. We got our regular checkups done, just to ensure that we both are healthy and fit to bear a baby. And after we got a heads up from the doctor, we started planning for the baby. As I’m sharing my journey in detail, I’m listing my ups and downs along the way and also the things that helped me combat it and kept me strong.  Finding out I’m pregnant  “Life’s biggest miracle is the gift of having life growing inside of y...

Lets Get Ready - Preparing For Delivery

During the third trimester, we started preparing for our baby’s arrival. As we didn’t know the gender of our baby, we started shopping for unisex clothing items. My favorite part was choosing the supercute onesie.  By the end of my eight months, I had prepared my hospital bag with all the essentials and was ready just in case. Here is the list of things that I packed that I thought I would need just after delivery: Sanitary pads: One of the most essential things to pack was sanitary pads, as we start bleeding immediately after delivery Clothes: I packed at least two pair of clothes (super comfortable dresses) and lingerie that I would wear after getting discharged Towel and toiletries Make-Up: I also packed my make-up essentials to look presentable post-delivery as I knew a lot of pictures were going to be clicked and I didn't want to look like Mr. Bean.  I also kept a small baby bag inside my hospital bag which had all the baby essentials. Here is list of what I pack...

Kubo's Coconut(y) Journey

In India, Coconut oil has been staple in Ayurvedic practices for centuries. Ayurveda, the traditional system of medicine in India recognises the theruputic properties of coconut oil and often incorporates it in massage oils for infants as part of broader infant care. Cut back to me finding out I’m pregnant and being flooded with advice from my dadi. My dadi is now unwell, and can hardly recognise me , so the wisdom she passed on to me has become ever more relevant. As a generation I feel worried that getting flooded with modernity we are forgetting our roots. And as our elders leave our side, their knowledge will soon get lost if we don’t learn to appreciate it, and adapt it in our lifestyle. Nothing can benefit your child more than what is pure, and derived straight from source. Baby massages ( under proper care and guidance ) are something I so strongly believe in. I have fond memories in photos of being out in the sun in our veranda being massaged by my dadi for stronger limbs...

Let’s Talk About Our “GADDA SET”

Image
Hi Mommies! We are here to take you through our beloved Gadda Set! A lot of homes have space constraints where they cannot fit in a cot for their newborn. Some houses are big enough but mothers still want a bedding option that is easily taken from one room to another. There are some houses that still, prefer to make the baby sleep on the floor to prevent any accidental falls from the bed or cot. In all such scenarios, a GADDA SET is a great addition to your must-have list.  A gadda set is designed in a pod-like shape and has a very slight elevation at the edges. It has a polypill filled inside, so it provides a soft surface for the baby to lie on. It does not provide a hard back which is given by a foam backing. It’s ideal to place the Gadda set itself on a hard surface, such as a bed, floor, or cot. The Gadda set can be folded and has a mosquito net. It also comes with a small pillow. The Gadda set’s cover is  not  removable and has to be dry cleaned. It’s ideal ...
